At PJ Powder we take great care in making sure that your parts are treated carefully from start to finish. Our processes are designed with the needs of manufacturers and fabricators in mind. We know that the part finish is the first thing your customers will see and a quality finish starts with exceptional pretreatment.
Cleaning - Masking - Packing
Pretreatment
A large percentage of coating failures can be traced back to improper surface preparation. For that reason, pretreatment is a primary focus in our process.
All parts are chemically pretreated to maximize the life and performance of the powder coated finish. We take great care to remove all dirt, oils, and contaminants, leaving a clean, water-break-free surface prior to coating.
Parts are then dried in our industrial oven. Because of our batch-style process, we are able to closely monitor each stage of pretreatment rather than relying on a continuous system. This allows for greater control and consistency from job to job.
Our wash system is free of phosphates and heavy metals, helping to minimize environmental impact without sacrificing performance.
We utilize an alkaline degreaser in combination with a zirconium conversion coating. Zirconium provides excellent corrosion resistance, outperforming traditional iron phosphate systems and performing comparably to zinc phosphate in salt spray testing. It leaves a microcrystalline surface that improves coating adhesion while adding a level of corrosion protection.
Masking
Masking services are available to protect threads and other critical areas that must remain free of coating.
We maintain a large assortment of silicone caps and plugs, along with high-temperature tapes in various shapes and sizes. For more precise requirements, we can work from your provided files, including .dxf, .dwg, .tcw, and SolidWorks formats.
Proper masking helps eliminate the need for rework such as chasing threads or re-machining coated areas, saving time and maintaining part integrity.
Packing
Finished parts can be packed to your specifications. We keep a range of packing materials on hand and can also source packaging tailored to your requirements.
Careful packing helps ensure parts arrive in the same condition they left our shop, ready for use or assembly.
